Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mepentol is a topical therapeutic product composed of hyperoxygenated fatty acids, specifically formulated for the prevention and treatment of stage I pressure ulcers (bedsores). Developed by Laboratorios Bama-Geve (a subsidiary of Alfasigma), it works by enhancing skin resistance, promoting the renewal of epidermal cells, and restoring the hydrolipidic film to prevent skin dehydration. In clinical practice, particularly within traumatology and the management of peripheral neuropathies, Mepentol is utilized to maintain skin integrity in patients with reduced mobility or sensory deficits, such as those with diabetic neuropathy, thereby preventing the formation of cutaneous lesions and ulcers.
