Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MEPHAJOY-P is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product marketed by JoY Pharma, primarily used for its anti-inflammatory, analgesic, and antipyretic properties. It contains mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) of the fenamate class, and paracetamol (acetaminophen). Mefenamic acid works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), thereby reducing the production of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Paracetamol provides complementary analgesic and antipyretic effects, likely through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis within the central nervous system. This combination is commonly used in clinical practice for the symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain, including dental pain, muscle aches, and dysmenorrhea, as well as for the management of fever. It is marketed as a branded generic in India.
