Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mepiform is a thin, discreet, and flexible self-adhesive silicone dressing designed for the management of both old and new hypertrophic and keloid scars. It can also be used as a prophylactic therapy on closed wounds for the prevention of hypertrophic or keloid scarring. The dressing utilizes Safetac technology, a soft silicone adhesive that minimizes pain and trauma to the wound and surrounding skin during dressing changes. Its primary mechanism of action involves providing physical occlusion to the scar area, which increases hydration of the stratum corneum. This increased hydration helps to regulate fibroblast activity and normalize collagen production, leading to the softening, flattening, and fading of red and raised scars.
