Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mepuzapine (VPC-14) is a novel small molecule analgesic developed by Beijing Dezhong Wanquan Pharmaceutical Technology (Venturepharm). Chemically a dibenzo[b,e][1,4]diazepine derivative, it is being investigated as a centrally acting, non-opioid treatment for moderate to acute pain. The drug is designed to offer potent analgesia without the addiction liability or respiratory depression typically associated with opioid medications. Clinical development has primarily occurred in China, where it has undergone Phase 1 pharmacokinetic evaluation in healthy volunteers to characterize its plasma concentration–time profile and safety.
