Mer590 is a monoclonal antibody specifically designed to target the MER receptor tyrosine kinase (MERTK). It acts by binding to the extracellular domain of MERTK, triggering rapid receptor internalization and subsequent lysosomal degradation. This process effectively depletes both surface and total cellular MERTK levels, leading to the inhibition of downstream pro-survival signaling cascades, including the STAT6, AKT, and ERK1/2 pathways. In preclinical studies of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC), Mer590 treatment has been shown to induce apoptosis, reduce colony formation, and synergistically enhance the efficacy of chemotherapy agents such as carboplatin. The antibody is being optimized for clinical translation as a precision therapeutic for tumors overexpressing MERTK.
