Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meridol is a specialized line of oral hygiene products, including toothpaste and mouthwash, designed for the prevention and treatment of gingivitis and dental plaque. The core therapeutic system typically consists of a combination of amine fluoride (olaflur) and stannous fluoride. These active ingredients work synergistically to provide potent antibacterial activity by inhibiting bacterial metabolism in dental plaque and promoting the remineralization of tooth enamel to prevent dental caries. Some formulations, such as Meridol Gum Protection, also incorporate zinc lactate to enhance anti-plaque efficacy and reduce oral malodor by neutralizing volatile sulfur compounds. Originally developed by the Swiss company GABA International, the brand is currently owned and marketed globally by Colgate-Palmolive.
