Overview

Meridol Halitosis is a specialized oral hygiene product line and regimen developed by GABA International (a subsidiary of Colgate-Palmolive) specifically to address oral malodor. The system comprises a toothpaste (tooth and tongue gel), a mouthwash, a toothbrush, and a tongue cleaner. Its therapeutic efficacy is derived from a combination of active ingredients, including amine fluoride (AmF), stannous fluoride (SnF2), and zinc lactate. These components work by neutralizing volatile sulphur compounds (VSCs)—the primary chemical cause of bad breath—and by inhibiting the metabolic activity of anaerobic bacteria on the tongue and oral surfaces. Clinical evaluations, including Phase 4 studies, have confirmed its effectiveness in reducing both physiological morning breath and pathological halitosis of intra-oral origin.
