Overview

Meriolin 3 is a synthetic small molecule belonging to the class of pyrrolopyridines. It features a fused pyrrole and pyridine ring system substituted with a methoxy group and a pyrimidinyl amine moiety. Meriolin 3 has been studied primarily as an experimental pharmacological agent with notable inhibitory activity against fibroblast growth factor receptors (FGFRs), specifically FGFR1–FGFR4. These receptor tyrosine kinases are involved in cell growth and differentiation pathways; thus, inhibition by Meriolin 3 or its analogs has potential anticancer applications. The compound acts as an ATP-site competitive inhibitor of FGFRs and serves as a lead structure for further development of targeted cancer therapies[5].
