Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meritup is a standardized botanical formulation developed by Dr. Reddy's Laboratories as an oral solution to alleviate cancer-related fatigue (CRF) in patients undergoing chemotherapy, particularly those with metastatic breast cancer. Classified as an Ayurvedic proprietary medicine or multi-ingredient nutraceutical, its composition includes extracts of various adaptogenic and rejuvenative herbs such as *Withania somnifera* (Ashwagandha), *Asparagus racemosus* (Shatavari), *Glycyrrhiza glabra* (Yashtimadhu), and *Tinospora cordifolia* (Guduchi). The therapeutic effect is attributed to its adaptogenic properties, which help modulate the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis and regulate cortisol levels, alongside anti-inflammatory actions that inhibit pro-inflammatory cytokines like interleukin-6 (IL-6) and tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α). It is currently under clinical evaluation to assess its potential as a supportive care intervention to improve physical energy and quality of life in oncology patients.
