Merozan

Merozan is a formulation of pentosan polysulfate developed by Meroven for the treatment of Bladder Pain Syndrome (BPS) and Interstitial Cystitis (IC). As a heparin-like, sulfated polysaccharide, it functions as a bladder mucosal protectant. The drug is thought to work by replacing or repairing the deficient glycosaminoglycan (GAG) layer of the bladder wall, thereby restoring the protective barrier and preventing urinary irritants from reaching the underlying tissue, which relieves bladder pain and discomfort. Merozan is uniquely designed for dual administration via both oral and intravesical routes and has achieved approved status for its primary indications.
