Overview

Bioquark Inc.'s ReAnima Project was a clinical research program aimed at exploring the potential for reversing brain death in patients who had suffered traumatic brain injury (TBI). The therapeutic protocol involved a multimodality approach, most notably the intrathecal administration of autologous mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) and the intravenous injection of BQ-A, a proprietary peptide extract derived from amphibian oocytes. This combination was intended to stimulate neuroregeneration, provide neuroprotective effects, and modulate the inflammatory environment of the brain. The protocol also integrated medical devices for transcranial laser therapy and median nerve stimulation. The project was highly controversial and faced significant regulatory and ethical challenges, resulting in the termination of its clinical trials (e.g., NCT02742857) before significant patient enrollment could occur.
