Mesenchymal stem cells enriched by extracellular vesicles is an experimental cell therapy developed by the Institute of Biophysics and Cell Engineering of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The treatment involves the administration of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) that have been augmented with extracellular vesicles (EVs) to enhance their therapeutic potential in bone regeneration. This approach leverages the ability of EVs to deliver bioactive molecules—such as proteins and microRNAs—that stimulate osteoblast differentiation and angiogenesis while modulating the inflammatory response. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of segmental bone defects, particularly in the upper limbs, where standard healing is insufficient.
