Overview

This investigational cell therapy consists of donor-derived multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) developed by the National Research Center for Hematology in Russia. It is specifically designed for patients experiencing primary graft failure following allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (allo-HSCT). The therapy utilizes MSCs cultured from the original hematopoietic stem cell donor's bone marrow. A key feature of this treatment is its intraosseous route of administration; the cells are injected directly into the iliac crest (trabecular bone) to ensure a higher concentration reaches the bone marrow microenvironment compared to traditional intravenous delivery. The primary mechanism of action involves the restoration of the hematopoietic stromal microenvironment and the support of bone marrow niches, which are essential for the engraftment and survival of donor hematopoietic stem cells. Additionally, the MSCs may exert immunomodulatory effects that help prevent repeated graft rejection.
