Overview

Mesosulide is a small molecule non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) and selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor developed by the Institute of Radiation and Radiation Medicine of the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in China. It is designed for the treatment of inflammatory conditions and pain, including rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, fever, and acute pain. As a selective COX-2 inhibitor, it aims to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects typically associated with non-selective NSAIDs while maintaining potent analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity. Clinical development has progressed through Phase 1 trials in China evaluating its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers.
