Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The mesothelin antibody (also known as hMAB mesothelin) is a preclinical-stage humanized monoclonal antibody being developed by MAB Designs, a UK-based biotechnology company. The antibody selectively targets the membrane-bound form of mesothelin (MSLN), a cell surface glycoprotein overexpressed in various solid tumors, including mesothelioma, ovarian cancer, and pancreatic cancer. Unlike conventional anti-mesothelin antibodies that also bind to shed (soluble) mesothelin—which can act as a decoy and limit therapeutic efficacy—this antibody is designed to discriminate between the membrane-associated and soluble conformations of the antigen. By selectively binding to the membrane-bound form, the antibody aims to maximize tumor-targeting efficiency and therapeutic potency in oncology indications.
