MESRIX-II is an investigational allogeneic cell therapy consisting of adipose-derived mesenchymal stromal cells (ASCs/MSCs). Developed by Cell to Cure (a portfolio company of Endeavour Cell), it is specifically designed to treat radiation-induced xerostomia (dry mouth) and hyposalivation in patients who have undergone radiotherapy for head and neck cancer. The therapy is administered via ultrasound-guided injection directly into the submandibular and parotid glands. Its mechanism of action is primarily attributed to paracrine and immunomodulatory effects, where the injected cells secrete bioactive factors that reduce inflammation, promote angiogenesis, and stimulate the repair of damaged salivary gland tissue. It is currently in Phase 2 clinical development.
