Drug intelligence / Profile preview
messenger ribonucleic acid (spike protein) is an mRNA-based vaccine candidate developed by Factor Biosciences Therapeutics for the prevention of COVID-19. The vaccine utilizes messenger RNA (mRNA) to encode the spike (S) protein of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Upon administration, the mRNA is taken up by host cells and translated into the spike protein, which then acts as an antigen to stimulate a specific immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and T-cell activation. This program leverages Factor Biosciences' proprietary mRNA synthesis and delivery platform, which is designed to optimize the expression and safety profile of mRNA therapeutics. The candidate is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
