Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MET-012** is an investigational intravaginal fixed-dose combination developed by Metrodora Therapeutics for prevention of recurrent symptomatic bacterial vaginosis. It contains 300 mg low-iron Metrodora Therapeutics bovine lactoferrin, a milk-derived iron-binding glycoprotein, together with trace zinc and manganese. Lactoferrin is intended to restrict microbial iron availability and exert direct antimicrobial activity against *Gardnerella vaginalis*, a key organism associated with bacterial vaginosis. In the Australian randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled MT300V-105 study, MET-012 is administered intravaginally with oral metronidazole during the first 7 days and then continued alone for an additional 11 weeks.
