Overview

**MET-1** is a defined, stool-derived live microbial consortium originally developed as the synthetic-stool product RePOOPulate for recurrent *Clostridioides difficile* infection. It comprises 33 cultured bacterial strains isolated from a healthy human donor and was administered by colonoscopic instillation in an initial two-patient proof-of-principle study, in which both patients with recurrent infection remained symptom-free through six months of follow-up. Its intended therapeutic action is restoration of protective gut-community functions and colonization resistance, with preclinical evidence that the consortium can attenuate *C. difficile* toxin A-mediated epithelial injury. NuBiyota subsequently advanced microbial ecosystem therapeutics and entered a gastrointestinal-development collaboration with Takeda. ([europepmc.org](https://europepmc.org/articles/PMC3869191))
