Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MET CAR T cells (also known as c-Met CAR-T cells) are chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapies engineered to target the hepatocyte growth factor receptor (HGFR, encoded by the MET proto-oncogene). MET is a receptor tyrosine kinase frequently overexpressed, amplified, or mutated in various solid tumors, including glioblastoma, non-small cell lung cancer, and hepatocellular carcinoma, where it promotes tumor cell proliferation, survival, and invasiveness. By expressing a CAR specific to MET, these engineered T cells can selectively bind to MET-expressing cancer cells, leading to T-cell activation, cytokine release, and antigen-dependent tumor cell lysis. Preclinical and early clinical studies are exploring MET CAR T cells both as monotherapies and in combination with other modalities, such as radiation therapy, to enhance anti-tumor efficacy and overcome resistance in solid tumors.
