MET shRNA is a short hairpin RNA construct designed to silence the expression of the MET proto-oncogene, which encodes the hepatocyte growth factor (HGF) receptor. MET is a receptor tyrosine kinase that plays a critical role in cell proliferation, survival, and motility; its dysregulation is associated with tumor progression and metastasis in various malignancies, including cervical carcinoma. MET shRNA functions through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, where it is processed into small interfering RNA (siRNA) that directs the degradation of MET mRNA. In preclinical studies, the use of MET shRNA has been shown to reduce cancer cell proliferation, alter cell cycle progression, and decrease migratory capacity, suggesting that targeting the HGF-MET axis is a viable therapeutic strategy.
