Drug intelligence / Profile preview
META-3 is an investigational small molecule immunometabolism modulator being developed by META Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of pneumonia and other pulmonary diseases. The drug is designed to target pyruvate dehydrogenase kinase 1 (PDK1), a key enzyme that regulates the metabolic switch in immune cells such as macrophages and neutrophils. By inhibiting PDK1, META-3 aims to reprogram these cells from a pro-inflammatory glycolytic state to a more balanced metabolic profile, thereby reducing the excessive inflammation and tissue damage associated with acute lung injury and severe respiratory infections. Currently in the preclinical stage, META-3 represents a novel therapeutic approach that targets the metabolic drivers of immune-mediated pulmonary damage to restore respiratory homeostasis.
