Overview
Meta Bioceramic Sealer (often marketed as CeraSeal by Meta BIOMED) is a calcium silicate-based endodontic sealer used for the permanent obturation of root canals. It is a premixed, injectable paste that sets in the presence of moisture within the root canal system. The material is highly biocompatible and dimensionally stable, releasing calcium hydroxide during the setting process. This release maintains a high alkaline pH (approximately 12), which provides potent antimicrobial activity and helps neutralize inflammatory byproducts. Furthermore, the sealer facilitates the formation of a hydroxyapatite layer at the sealer-dentin interface, creating a chemical bond and a superior biological seal. In the clinical trial led by Jaweria Gul Keyani, this sealer is being evaluated for its potential to reduce post-operative pain in patients with irreversible pulpitis compared to traditional epoxy resin-based sealers like AH Plus.
