Metabolically armed tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (Meta10-TIL) is an autologous cell therapy consisting of T cells harvested from a patient's tumor that have been expanded ex vivo and metabolically reprogrammed to enhance their fitness and anti-tumor activity. Developed by researchers at The First Affiliated Hospital of USTC (Anhui Provincial Hospital), this therapy addresses a primary limitation of conventional TIL therapies: the rapid exhaustion and loss of function of T cells within the nutrient-depleted and immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment (TME). The 'Meta10' platform involves optimizing the metabolic profile of the TILs—potentially through genetic modification or specific culture conditions—to ensure they maintain high mitochondrial mass and efficient nutrient uptake upon re-infusion. This metabolic 'arming' is intended to improve the persistence and efficacy of the lymphocytes as they target various tumor-associated neoantigens in patients with advanced solid tumors.
