Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metapaste is a pre-mixed, water-based dental paste composed primarily of calcium hydroxide and barium sulfate. It is used as a temporary root canal filling material in endodontic procedures. The high pH of calcium hydroxide provides an antibacterial effect and promotes the formation of a hard tissue barrier (apexification). Barium sulfate imparts radiopacity, allowing for easy visualization on X-rays. The product is supplied in syringes with disposable tips to prevent cross-contamination and facilitate direct application into the root canal. Indications include pulp capping, pulpotomy, apexification, management of weeping canals, internal and external root resorption, and temporary root canal fillings after endodontic surgery[1][5][6][8].
