Metavac is a live-attenuated vaccine candidate developed by Vaxxel for the prevention of respiratory infections caused by Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) and Human Metapneumovirus (HMPV). Administered intranasally, the vaccine is produced using a GMP-grade Vero cell line. It is designed to provide dual protection against two major causes of viral pneumonia and bronchiolitis, particularly in pediatric and elderly populations. As of 2024, the program is in preclinical development, with Phase I clinical trials anticipated to begin in the third quarter of 2025.
