Metformin hydrochloride + glibenclamide is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product used for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It combines two antihyperglycemic agents with distinct but complementary mechanisms of action: metformin hydrochloride, a biguanide, and glibenclamide (also known as glyburide), a second-generation sulfonylurea. Metformin primarily works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, reducing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization.
