Vildatin Plus is a fixed-dose combination generic drug containing the dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor vildagliptin and the biguanide antihyperglycemic agent metformin hydrochloride. Marketed by Alfa Pharma and manufactured by Celogen Pharma, it is indicated for the treatment of type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control in adults. Vildagliptin works by inhibiting the DPP-4 enzyme, which prevents the degradation of incretin hormones like GLP-1 and GIP, thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and suppressing glucagon release.
