Metgluco-GP1

Metgluco-GP1 is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed and marketed by Makshi Healthcare for the management of type 2 diabetes mellitus. It contains two active antidiabetic agents: metformin and glimepiride. Metformin is a biguanide that primarily works by decreasing hepatic glucose production, decreasing intestinal absorption of glucose, and improving insulin sensitivity by increasing peripheral glucose uptake and utilization. Glimepiride is a second-generation sulfonylurea that lowers blood glucose by stimulating the release of insulin from pancreatic beta cells through the inhibition of ATP-sensitive potassium channels. This combination therapy is typically utilized when glycemic control is not achieved with metformin or sulfonylurea monotherapy alone.
