Methanol extract of dried latex of *Calotropis procera* (MeDL) is a natural product extract derived from the latex of the *Calotropis procera* plant, commonly known as apple of Sodom or giant milkweed. It is primarily investigated for its potent anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anticancer properties in preclinical research. The extract is produced by shade-drying the latex and performing Soxhlet extraction with methanol. Mechanistically, MeDL has been shown to suppress oxidative stress and downregulate inflammatory mediators, including prostaglandin E2 (PGE2), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), nitric oxide, and myeloperoxidase (MPO). Research, largely conducted by institutions such as the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), has demonstrated efficacy in animal models of colorectal carcinoma, ulcerative colitis, and rheumatoid arthritis.
