Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MethARO** is a proprietary oral, immediate-release fixed-dose combination of **methadone hydrochloride** and **disulfiram** being developed by SafeRx as an Alcohol-Resistant Opioid product. Methadone is intended to provide mu-opioid receptor agonism for opioid use disorder and/or analgesia, while disulfiram inhibits aldehyde dehydrogenase and is intended to deter alcohol consumption through an aversive alcohol-disulfiram reaction. The product uses a matrix-based tablet designed to prevent separation of its two active ingredients and is intended for opioid use disorder and moderate-to-severe pain refractory to non-opioid therapy when enforced alcohol sobriety is desired.
