Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Methionine + inositol + choline (MIC) is a compounded lipotropic formulation consisting of three active ingredients: methionine (an essential amino acid), inositol (a carbohydrate-like compound involved in cellular signaling), and choline (an essential nutrient). This combination is not an FDA-approved drug but rather a compounded medication prepared by various compounding pharmacies based on individual prescriptions. MIC is typically administered as an intramuscular or subcutaneous injection and is commonly used in weight management and wellness programs. The formulation is intended to support liver function and fat metabolism, with the three components working together to assist in the breakdown and transport of fats. MIC injections are often combined with vitamin B12 for additional energy support. While marketed for weight loss support, there is limited clinical evidence supporting its effectiveness for this purpose, and it is not FDA-approved for weight loss.
