Overview

This fixed-dose combination contains 380 mg of methocarbamol and 300 mg of paracetamol (acetaminophen). Developed by Angelini Pharma, it is primarily indicated for the short-term treatment of acute non-specific low back pain associated with muscle spasms. Methocarbamol is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant that likely works by depressing the central nervous system rather than acting directly on the muscles. Paracetamol is a well-known analgesic and antipyretic that provides pain relief by inhibiting prostaglandin synthesis. The combination is currently being evaluated in the Phase 4 MioPain trial to compare the efficacy and safety of different dosing frequencies (4 times daily versus 6 times daily) for the treatment of acute low back pain.
