Overview

Methosulide is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) developed by the Academy of Military Medical Sciences in collaboration with People's Medical Group. It acts primarily as a selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor, reducing the synthesis of inflammatory mediators such as prostaglandins (PGI1, PGE1, PGE2) and thromboxane A2 (TXA2). This mechanism provides antipyretic, analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-edema effects. Methosulide has been studied for its pharmacokinetics and safety in oral film-coated tablet form but is insoluble in water and currently lacks widely available formulations. Its development aims to achieve good efficacy with high bioavailability and minimal side effects.[3][8]
