Methyl nonanoate is a saturated fatty acid ester that has demonstrated diverse biological activities and applications. It has been identified as a volatile inhibitor of the Phosphatidylinositol-3-Kinase (PI3K) pathway, showing potential as an anticancer agent, particularly against lung cancer cells, with suggested administration via inhalers or sprays. Additionally, it exhibits antibacterial properties, inhibiting cariogenic bacteria such as *Streptococcus mutans* and *Lactobacillus acidophilus*. Methyl nonanoate also functions as an effective penetration enhancer, improving the transdermal delivery of various drugs including minoxidil, vitamin D3, erythromycin, triamcinolone acetonide, testosterone, and hydrocortisone.
