Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Methylestrenolone (also known as normethandrone or methylnortestosterone) is a synthetic estrane steroid and a 17α-alkylated derivative of nandrolone. It acts as both a progestin and an androgen/anabolic steroid (AAS). Methylestrenolone has been used in combination with estrogens for the treatment of amenorrhea and menopausal symptoms in women. Its mechanism of action involves agonism at the androgen receptor and progestogen receptor, leading to anabolic effects as well as progestogenic activity. The drug is metabolized by aromatase into small quantities of methylestradiol[1].
