Overview

KPAX002 (methylphenidate + K-PAX Synergy) is an investigational combination therapy developed by K-PAX Pharmaceuticals for the treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME), and Gulf War Illness (GWI). The drug consists of a low-dose, extended-release formulation of methylphenidate hydrochloride, a central nervous system stimulant, co-administered with a proprietary broad-spectrum micronutrient supplement (K-PAX Synergy) designed to support mitochondrial function. The therapeutic rationale is that the nutrient formula addresses underlying mitochondrial dysfunction and oxidative stress, thereby enhancing the efficacy and reducing the side effects of the stimulant component. KPAX002 has been evaluated in Phase II clinical trials, demonstrating improvements in fatigue and cognitive symptoms in patients with CFS and GWI.
