Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Methylprednisolon acis is a generic formulation of methylprednisolone, a synthetic glucocorticoid with potent anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive properties. It is administered via intravenous or intramuscular injection or infusion for the treatment of acute, life-threatening conditions that require rapid glucocorticoid therapy. Key indications include anaphylactic shock (following primary epinephrine injection), cerebral edema (associated with brain tumors, neurosurgery, brain abscess, or bacterial meningitis), persistent acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) after the acute phase, severe acute asthma attacks, Waterhouse-Friderichsen syndrome, immunological crises following organ transplantation, and toxic pulmonary edema from irritant gas inhalation. It is also indicated for the short-term treatment of acute exacerbations in multiple sclerosis.
