The study compares the therapeutic efficacy of intramuscular metoclopramide, promethazine, and prochlorperazine in adult patients presenting to the emergency department with acute peripheral vertigo and associated nausea or vomiting. Metoclopramide is a dopamine D2 receptor antagonist and prokinetic; promethazine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine with sedative and anti-dopaminergic properties; and prochlorperazine is a phenothiazine-class dopamine D2 receptor antagonist.
