Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Metoprine is a diaminopyrimidine folate antagonist with potential antineoplastic activity. It acts primarily by inhibiting dihydrofolate reductase (DHFR), leading to decreased cellular folate metabolism and inhibition of cell growth. Additionally, metoprine inhibits histamine-N-methyltransferase, resulting in reduced histamine catabolism. Its lipid solubility allows it to cross the blood-brain barrier[9].
