Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Telmed Beta is a fixed-dose combination antihypertensive medication developed by Medley. It contains metoprolol succinate, a cardioselective beta-1 adrenergic receptor blocker, and telmisartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB). Metoprolol works by reducing heart rate, cardiac output, and myocardial oxygen demand, while telmisartan blocks the vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin II, leading to arterial vasodilation and reduced peripheral resistance. Together, these complementary mechanisms provide synergistic blood pressure control. Telmed Beta is approved for the treatment of hypertension, particularly in patients whose blood pressure is uncontrolled on monotherapy, as well as hypertension co-occurring with heart failure or coronary artery disease.
