Overview

METR-NK cells (metabolic remodeling natural killer cells) are an investigational adoptive cell therapy consisting of natural killer (NK) cells that have been metabolically reprogrammed to enhance their survival, persistence, and functional activity. Developed by Anhui Provincial Cancer Hospital, this therapy is being evaluated in Phase 1/2 clinical trials for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced myelosuppression (bone marrow suppression) in patients with ovarian cancer. The treatment involves the intravenous infusion of at least 2×10^7 cells/kg, typically administered approximately 10 days prior to chemotherapy. By optimizing the metabolic pathways of the NK cells, the treatment aims to provide hematopoietic support and potentially enhance anti-tumor immunity when used as an adjuvant to standard chemotherapy regimens.
