Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Gynocain XL is a combination pharmaceutical product developed by Vefa İlaç for the treatment of mixed vaginal infections. It contains three active ingredients: metronidazole, an antibacterial and antiprotozoal agent; miconazole nitrate, a broad-spectrum antifungal; and lidocaine, a local anesthetic. Metronidazole is effective against anaerobic bacteria and *Trichomonas vaginalis*, while miconazole nitrate targets various fungi, including *Candida* species. Lidocaine is included to provide symptomatic relief from itching and irritation associated with vaginal infections. The XL designation typically refers to a high-dose formulation intended for a shorter treatment course. It is administered as a vaginal suppository (ovule).
