Overview
BALGIL V.I. is a multi-component antimicrobial and antifungal medication developed by Shayana Farm for the treatment of vaginal infections. It is formulated as a vaginal insert (vaginal tablet) containing four active ingredients: metronidazole, clotrimazole, neomycin sulfate, and nystatin. This combination is designed to treat vaginitis of mixed etiology, including bacterial vaginosis, candidiasis (yeast infections), and trichomoniasis. Metronidazole acts as an antiprotozoal and antibacterial agent by disrupting DNA synthesis in anaerobic organisms; clotrimazole and nystatin are antifungal agents that target fungal cell membrane integrity through ergosterol-related pathways; and neomycin is an aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.
