Overview

METTL3 shRNA is a research-grade gene-silencing tool designed to knock down the expression of the METTL3 gene (N6-adenosine-methyltransferase 70 kDa subunit) via RNA interference (RNAi). It typically consists of short hairpin RNA constructs delivered through lentiviral vectors or plasmids. METTL3 is a critical component of the m6A methyltransferase complex, acting as a 'writer' that modifies mRNA to regulate stability, splicing, and translation. In preclinical research, METTL3 shRNA is used to investigate the role of m6A modification in various malignancies, including melanoma, acute myeloid leukemia (AML), and glioblastoma, where METTL3 often functions as an oncogene. It is primarily available as a laboratory reagent from suppliers such as Santa Cruz Biotechnology and is not currently an approved therapeutic agent.
