MetVax is a novel protein fragment vaccine developed by D5 Pharma designed to prevent cancer metastasis, particularly in colorectal cancer and other cancers expressing carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA). The vaccine consists of a carefully defined fragment of the N-terminal domain of CEA, a glycoprotein involved in the adhesive properties of cancerous cells. Its mechanism of action involves priming the immune system to recognize circulating CEA and generate antibodies that block the implantation and colonization of tumor cells in new tissues. By targeting the N-terminal domain, MetVax aims to intervene in the metastatic spread of disease. It is currently in the preclinical stage of development.
