Metxim

Metxim is a brand of cefixime, a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic marketed by MetaneX Life Science, an Indian generic pharmaceutical company. It is primarily used to treat a variety of bacterial infections, including respiratory tract infections (such as bronchitis and pharyngitis), urinary tract infections, and otitis media. As a beta-lactam antibiotic, Metxim works by binding to and inhibiting penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs) involved in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall. This inhibition prevents the cross-linking of peptidoglycan, leading to the loss of structural integrity of the cell wall and resulting in bacterial cell lysis and death. It is typically administered orally and is effective against a broad spectrum of Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria.
