Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mexoryl XL + Mexoryl SX is a patented combination of sun filters developed by L'Oréal. Mexoryl SX (ecamsule/terephthalylidene dicamphor sulfonic acid) is a water-soluble organic compound that primarily protects against UVA rays, while Mexoryl XL (drometrizole trisiloxane) is an oil-soluble compound that provides protection against both UVA and UVB rays. Together, they show a synergistic effect in sun protection, offering photostable and long-lasting defense against the full spectrum of UV radiation. This combination is particularly effective at preventing sunburn, premature skin aging, and reducing the risk of skin cancer. The compounds are not absorbed into the bloodstream, minimizing the risk of side effects, and are well-tolerated by sensitive skin.
