MF-300 is a first-in-class, orally administered small molecule inhibitor of 15-hydroxyprostaglandin dehydrogenase (15-PGDH), developed by Epirium Bio for the treatment of neuromuscular and fibrotic diseases. It works by reversibly binding to the Prostaglandin E2 (PGE2)-binding site on 15-PGDH, inhibiting its activity. This inhibition stabilizes and increases PGE2 levels in skeletal muscle, which is associated with improved muscle quality and function. Preclinical studies have shown that MF-300 restores muscle strength in aged mice and improves muscle force in models of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). The drug is currently being developed primarily for sarcopenia (age-induced muscle weakness), with additional preclinical development for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis and SMA[1][3][4][5].
