Overview

mF4-31C1 is a rat monoclonal antibody that functions as a potent antagonist of murine Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 3 (VEGFR-3). It specifically binds to murine VEGFR-3 and blocks the phosphorylation and mitogenic activity of the receptor, thereby inhibiting the binding of its ligands, VEGF-C and VEGF-D. This action primarily prevents lymphangiogenesis, the formation of new lymphatic vessels. Developed by ImClone Systems (now part of Eli Lilly and Company), mF4-31C1 has been extensively used in preclinical animal models to study the role of VEGFR-3 in various physiological and pathological processes, including inflammatory bowel disease, allergic airway inflammation, tumor angiogenesis and metastasis, and ovarian lymphangiogenesis. Its murine specificity positions it as a research tool rather than a human therapeutic drug.
